We are very excited that we are now opening up opportunities to join our existing teams across our nurseries in the west of York.
We are looking for Room Leaders in either a full time role (4 days per week) or as maternity cover to support our existing staff who are taking time away from the nurseries. This can be up to 12 months cover with the strong possibility of work continuing beyond the maternity leave period.
Whether you're looking for a fresh start in a nature-led nursery, or you want to develop your skills as a qualified early years educator with progression into leadership within the nursery rooms, we'd love to hear from you!

About the roles within Muddy Boots
You'll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, nature-based learning experiences that inspire curiosity, confidence and independence.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering engaging learning activities, with a strong focus on outdoor play and exploration
Observing, assessing and supporting children's individual learning journeys
Acting as a key person and building strong, trusting relationships with families
Creating a safe, stimulating and inclusive environment
Working collaboratively as part of a positive, supportive team
Taking responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in your care
We're looking for someone who:
- Holds a Level 3 Early Years qualification on the DfE Early Years Qualifications List as a minimum
- Has experience in an early years setting
- Shares our values and commitment to high-quality childcare
- Has a genuine passion for outdoor learning and child-led play
- Is positive, proactive, and enjoys working as part of a team
Experience in outdoor education is welcomed, but a willingness to learn and grow with us matters just as much.

Situated in the grounds of Westfield Primary School, right in the heart of Acomb, this is one of our two largest York nurseries. Each nursery room has direct access to an outdoor garden space and the new edition of a full size tipi in our nature school, reflecting our hands-on, nature-led approach to early years care.
Muddy Boots - Poppleton

Described as our flagship setting, set on around 9 acres of land less than a mile from Poppleton village centre. Poppleton is one of our two largest nurseries in York, offering plenty of outdoor space for the children to explore, including our dedicated Nature / Tent School provision.
